As the end of the year holiday rat race nears, and you find yourself being pulled in so many different directions, I invite you to PAUSE. Take an honest look at your life. Nothing gets better on its own. It takes a hard look in the mirror and a willingness to make some choices to change.
Be honest with yourself as you review these 5 areas.
At this point there are countless studies that confirm…
Multitasking doesn’t work! Yet, we think by doing 3, 5, and 7 things at once we're life hacking, when in fact we walk away disconnected from both our work and those around us.
Pay attention this week to how many activities you are seeking to do at once, take even just one of those away and move towards being more present.
I’ve heard this 100 times, and found myself saying this very same thing…”I just have to get through this and then … Once I finish this project, then…” It leaves us living in the future and again not present to the task at hand.
Take an honest look at your calendar and decide what needs your full attention now. Look for those opportunities to be grateful and thankful for the moment you're in, as it will help you to stay grounded in the here and now.
There’s nothing worse than waking up feeling like it’s groundhog day and you are worn out, tired, and running on coffee and Red Bull. Let’s just say this isn’t living. It’s amazing how long we can stay in this state of affairs before we do anything to change.
If you find yourself feeling like Negative Nancy more than Positive Patty, it might be time for a wake up call.
If you find yourself making commitments and instantly dreading them, then you might want to check out the book, Boundaries, and remember that no is a complete sentence. It needs no explanation. Your life is clearly full but not of the things which fill your cup.
Make a list of all your current commitments, and then make a list of all the activities you most desire to fill your time. Make adjustments where possible.
